As a product manager for our editorial products, you work at the heart of the company. The product team is responsible for how we present our journalism digitally, how we excel in digital storytelling, personalise the experience and create smarter ways to consume news. You will build solutions for ten different publications who are market leaders within their sectors: shipping, seafood, energy, and business news. Across our titles we have more than 3,5 million visits every week, which means that a lot of people will benefit from what you work on every day! You will work from Oslo, but you will also be part of a global team with colleagues in London, Singapore, Dhaka and Stamford.
In your new job, you are responsible for finding the problems we should solve, assessing ideas and deciding which services we should create and deliver. You work closely with the editorial teams, designers, and developers to prioritise the work to be done, and you help determine the best technical solutions. Your strategic role:
- You set the team first and focus on collective wins above individual results.
- You set your team up for flow and speed by providing day-to-day priorities, clear goals and a long-term product strategy.
- You are comfortable with saying no and shield the team from distractions.

- You focus on user problems before solutions, and manage to balance business value, technical feasibility, and user needs.
- You develop a deep understanding of internal and external users' needs.
- You familiarize yourself quickly with complex issues and use your excellent communication skills to make it easy for both technical and non-technical colleagues to fully understand the problem.
- You make sure your team balance their time between discovery and delivery in the most impactful way for users and business.
- You make sure your team use quantitative data and qualitative user insights to drive continuous improvement and to discover new business opportunities.
- Take accessibility needs, laws and regulations into consideration when the team solve user problems and develop solutions.
- You establish healthy and good relationships in the team and actively contribute to a social and professional sense of belonging in your team and in the wider work community.
Your day-to-day:
- You will be part of a great group of product managers and UX designers who work closely with developers, analysts, editorial and commercial colleagues.
- You will start out as a product manager for our newly established product team for our Common Publication Platform (CPP). After the completed recruitment, this team will consist of 1-2 designers, 2-3 developers and one product manager. In addition, effect owners who typically represent their domain (the newsrooms and the commercial departments) will be collaborating closely with the team.
- The CPP team design and build reusable components and create and maintain the design system. This important and foundational work help other product teams run fast and make sure we provide a consistent user experience. It also set us up for fast versioning of newly developed features for all our ten news products.
Your background:
- Will have at least three years’ experience as a product manager
- We are also interested in your application if you are a senior UX designer or tech lead who wants to become a product manager. In this case, we expect you to have experience from a media company.
- We believe it is a huge benefit if you have worked in a cross functional team.
- You have experience conducting user interviews and preferably a wide set of methods to empathize with users and know what action to take to understand their problems and transform user insight into product solutions.
- Experienced in using quantitative and qualitative data to priorities the next product development steps and use data to iterate on solution and measure success.
You manage relationships across teams and departments, aligning priorities, and navigating dependencies to ensure smooth delivery.
