Introduction to the role
DN Media Group is establishing a Group-level business development department with responsibility for early-stage innovation in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The department will build an innovation funnel; create a hub for growth ideas, establish processes that verify product/market fit, provide funding to the strongest business cases, build teams and business ownership before handing them to the organisation to scale.
We are looking for a Business Development Analyst who will work closely with the Head of the department to build this function from the ground up. This is a newly created role and a rare opportunity to learn business development and venture-building end to end, with direct exposure to senior leadership across the Group. You will work with the whole innovation funnel, from sourcing and screening ideas through validation and incubation, with day-to-day emphasis on analysis, research and case-building.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Source and structure growth ideas from across the Group into a single, well-organised opportunity pipeline.
Verify product and market hypothesis through field-based market research, competitor analysis and financial modelling, to screen ideas against strategic fit, topline potential, execution complexity and downside risk.
Design pilots and conduct experiments in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to test growth ideas in a real customer environment.
Screen partnership opportunities.
Support screening of minority investments and M&A opportunities, under the direction of the Business Development Director and the Group CEO and CFO.
Prepare business cases, memos and decision material for the General Management and Board of Directors.
Track pipeline KPIs (ideas screened, cases validated, initiatives incubated, transfers to line) and keep the innovation funnel updated and relevant.
Your background:
Hold a Master's degree, preferably in business administration, finance, economics, industrial economics, strategy and business development, innovation, or similar.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in business development, strategy consulting, corporate finance, venture building, or a related analytical or commercial role, ideally with exposure to media, subscription, or platform businesses.
Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, comfortable building a business case from scratch.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to turn complex or early-stage topics into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
A structured, curious and self-driven working style, comfortable operating with limited early-stage information.
An entrepreneurial mindset and a drive to create new or improved products, services and experiences for our readers and customers.
Fluent written and spoken in English is required, Norwegian language skills are an advantage.
We will consider applications even if you do not meet every single one of the above requirements, so do not be put off if you don’t match them perfectly!
