An excellent journalistic opportunity to join the world's leading industry publication in shipping.
We usually respond within a month
TradeWinds is the world’s leading source of news and insight about the dynamic, powerful and often opaque international shipping business. We have a reputation for clear and authoritative coverage of the people, companies and issues that drive a key global industry.
Recent years has seen shipping emerge from the shadows and onto front pages worldwide.
The Covid lockdown supply chain crisis, the Red Sea turmoil, and Western sanctions against Russia have propelled shipping to the top of the global business and political agenda.
Now, with pressure to cut carbon emissions mounting and technology set to revolutionise operations, maritime business faces a dynamic period of change.
We are seeking an experienced reporter to be based in Singapore and join the team reporting on Asia’s world-leading shipping, shipbuilding, ship finance and trade sectors.
Your strategic role:
The successful candidate will contribute high value news, markets insight and commentary as we expand our online publication for our large and growing subscriber base.
Experience of digital editing and publishing, and constructive interpretation of analytics data will be an advantage.
Ability or aptitude to produce audio and video content will be welcomed, as would experience with live and online events.
Detailed knowledge of shipping markets is not essential, although business reporting experience around trade, commodities, technology and finance would be an advantage.
For this role, knowledge of international insurance markets may be of particular benefit. Language skills are an asset, particularly Chinese.
Your day-to-day:
- Research and write a full range of news, insight and commentary stories for publication online and for our weekly digital edition.
- There will be opportunity to develop specialist knowledge of a particular business sector although all our staff are expected to be self-starting, versatile and adaptable.
- Develop a network of relevant contacts across business, government, and civil society.
- Report with accuracy and speed to deadline and to appropriate length and style.
- Generate content and contacts through travel to key industry events, press conferences and site visits.
- Take responsibility to assist editing and publishing when required.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of TradeWinds’ conferences and events.
- Promote TradeWinds material and activities through social media.
- Represent TradeWinds and DN Media Group Global at business and social events.
